What different interview techniques are there?

There are many different interviewing techniques available to help obtain the facts and discover the truth. Some techniques, such as those incorporated into our Investigative Interviewing Course, focus on the importance of planning and structure of an interview as well as an appreciation of body language and behaviour to collect information from a suspect.

Another technique, outlined in our SCAN Statement Analysis Course, focuses on the statements obtained from suspects and how the language that they use can show you the truth.

Knowledge of cognitive skills, for example how the human mind works with regard to memory and perception, is another method of investigative interviewing which allows the interviewer to get details of events that a witness would not normally remember. Our Cognitive Investigative Training explores this technique further.

Company Background

Argent Associates was founded in 1983 by ex-Chief Inspector, Geoff Kay, who had a notable police career ending on the Directing Staff of the Police College, Bramshill. When Head of Leadership and Management Training at Barclays Bank he devised an anti-fraud interview training course, which was the originator to our 'Find the truth' or Investigation Interviewing Skills Course.

We continue to ensure that our team, and in particular our trainers, have many years experience of fraud and criminal investigative interviewing.
