Cognitive (Witness) Interviewing Skills Training Course
Three-day course
How does it work?
Cognitive means '….knowing in the widest sense including memory, perception, etc…'
This proven method can help interviewers get a much clearer 'picture' of what the interviewee saw, experienced and thought of a situation. Cognitive interviewing has been shown to provide well over 50% more accurate information than a standard 'question and answer' interview, and assists interviewers to understand the processes of memory. It is based on reliable psychological research and will provide knowledge of memory and memory retrieval, cognitive interviewing skills and structure.
Practical exercises are undertaken which will consolidate the learning and show how powerful, flexible and effective the process is. It has been standard training in the police for many years.
Our Cognitive Interviewing Skills Trainer is one of the most qualified trainers in the UK, having been trained in the US by the inventor of the technique, and the foremost experts in the UK also.
Who should attend?
The cognitive interviewing course is suitable for anyone engaged in interviewing willing, co-operative witnesses, victims and suspects of criminal or fraudulent activities.
